Cyclist claims bike helmet laws are sexist

Everything is becoming a gender issue these days.

Sue Abbott, resident of New South Wales, was issued a $153 fine for riding a bicycle without a helmet during an international cycling conference. However, Sue Abbott is arguing that mandatory helmet laws are ridiculous, because she feels the laws turn many people, especially woman, off of cycling.

The 54-year-old cycling fanatic says she believes that more people would ride bicycles if helmets were optional. In fact, she went as far to say that helmet laws are sexist and inconsiderate of women.

“It is a very sexist law because a lot of women have maintained hairstyles and would end up with helmet hair” explained Sue Abbott, “and women have told me that’s one of the factors (for not riding bikes)”

Apparently, women want to ignore general safety laws because it is messing with the fashion look they are trying to go for.

Helmets should be mandatory, as they prevent awkward situations from happening. Don’t you remember when the anti-helmet motorcyclist died at an anti-helmet rally. In fact, doctors went as far to say he would have, without a doubt, survived the ordeal if he was wearing a helmet.
