If you pride yourself on crawling into bed, turning your lights off, and then spending hours on your phone…you should probably not do that any more. You might as well be putting a jack hammer into your eye and turning it on.
A 26-year-old Chinese man suffered from a detached retina while texting his girlfriend for hours, late at night. Essentially, his retina detached from the back of his eye, and he began to see sudden flashes. If untreated, he would have gone blind.
Retinal detachment was only thought to have been a problem among older people, but it’s becoming more and more popular with the younger generation because of cell phone use.
Although eye experts are saying this is an extreme case, they say that it should be taken as a warning as to what can happen if you use your cellphone too much, especially in dark rooms.
