Detroit built 10-ft-tall bronze statue to celebrate ‘RoboCop day’

RoboCop Day might just be the most important holiday

Since it’s release in 1987, RoboCop has been an iconic symbol for the citizens of Detroit. Not because they actually have a RoboCop, but because the dystopian sci-fi film takes place in Detroit. Big whoop.

In fact, RoboCop is apparently such a big deal in Detroit, they felt the need to build a 10-ft tall statue made of bronze that is going to be revealed to the public in the near future. Children and fans will be able to pose next to the statue.

Now Detroit is the only major city with a statue of a fictional movie character, while, at the same time, being one of the only cities in America to have declared bankruptcy.

You can buy a house in Detroit for a few thousand dollars. That’s how bad the real estate market is. Nobody wants to live there.

But, on the plus side, there’s now a giant statue of a half robot half man abomination? It’s not like the statue made Detroit any worse. It’s already at rock bottom, maybe this Stalin-esque statue will be the start of bigger and better things for Detroit.
