After being suspected of driving under the influence, 29-year-old Mathew Wester tried to outrun police on his highly modified golf cart. Initially, deputies tried to use hand signals to stop Wester. However, instead of slowly doing or stopping, Wester made a U-turn and took off, fleeing deputies.
Wester was driving around in an area that deputies had recently been told to patrol there to combat trespassers. It seems like he was just in the wrong place, at the wrong time, while drunkenly driving his modified golf cart.
After a brief chase, Wester was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding police, not having a vehicle registration, and driving under the Influence. Police were able to arrest Wester when he crashed into a ditch.
